Evenbytes on the TV news: the secret of 0% absenteeism

The RTVE Cantabria team visited the Evenbytes offices. They wanted to see for themselves, ask questions and understand how a technology company manages to reach a goal that many consider utopian: keeping absenteeism at 0%.

The report perfectly captured the essence of our day-to-day and put the spotlight on the pillars that define us: the 4-day working week, flexible hours and a genuine work-life balance.

During the interview, we were able to break down the three key factors behind the Evenbytes team’s 100% commitment:

The 4-day week: working Monday to Thursday doesn’t reduce productivity at all; in fact, it improves it. A three-day weekend lets you truly switch off, reset your mind and come back on Monday with fresh ideas.

Genuinely flexible hours: Nobody here is checking whether you’re just keeping your seat warm. Everyone organises their schedule however suits them best: picking up the kids, going to the doctor, running errands or anything else they need. We trust each person’s sense of responsibility.

Real work-life balance: Life doesn’t start when you leave the office. At Evenbytes, personal and professional life coexist in harmony because we are built on mutual trust.

Why do we record 0% absenteeism at Evenbytes?

That was the big question the journalists asked during the interview. Our answer was simple: a team that feels valued, motivated and properly rested doesn’t suffer from burnout (a state of chronic physical, mental and emotional exhaustion caused by prolonged stress in the workplace). In the tech sector, absenteeism is usually the clear symptom of a business ecosystem worn down by stress.

By completely eradicating the culture of «presenteeism» and replacing it with flexibility and mutual respect, the team’s commitment is at its highest. The benefit is mutual and follows a very clear logic: there’s no need to miss work when the working day fits naturally around your personal life.
